Don't get people started on tracking down AB stuff. So l'm feeling in a good mood so follow thru the vid in the link and you will get what you want if it is the Micrologix 1000\1100 you wish to play with. Also suggest you watch Ron Beauforts vids as well as watch/read all on the ******** site l have linked. https://*************/how-to-become-a-plc-programmer/ https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL16AF37BBB99EC957
looks like this site doesn't like other good sites, so put in plcsgurus.net were the bits are **** out
That "other good site" got itself banned because the owner of it abused his member privileges here. He would post in multiple threads with no relevant data, but only a link to his site.
It was my understanding that the free version stopped being updated at version 8.30, while the RSLogix 500 software is now at Version 12.
But the release notes for the current MicroLogix 1100 version 16 firmware say that you only need RSLogix 500 version 8.10 or better to support all of the features in v16.
So that's good; a user of this older software who *only* needed to work on MicroLogix 1100 controllers would be able to work with a brand-new controller.
Thanks for the re-direct folks. At the office we have a good licence of RSLogix 500. I used to be able to do "homework" with the RSLogix Micro Starter Lite on my recently deceased Laptop "Stopped working." So I am not in the process of tracking down all my old goodies. I'll take a deeper look at the ~8.0 ver. I will be in touch.
Besides your mood and patience, I took what you had explained earlier in the first reply about the alternate-site. I did step by step looking for the technote with no avail. Looks like they are using OLD information as the RA Site has evolved since then. I will keep searching and update accordingly.
If you plan on emulating, do the Microlite install first, then the classic and emulator. its hidden in the zipped folder so be sure to extract and hunt for them. Otherwise i found in windows 10; you will need to restart and install to make all the pieces work. "Or so I have found that works."
Hunt for the folder tiered as "Micro_Lite_830" and initiate the install. If you already have some .rss files like i do, you can open them and make edits. careful of the notice. you can NOT go online after communications with processors above the 1100 without the paid version as "ver16"
Thanks PLCNovice and the other for poking in the right direction.
