Has any one ever tried to do NPN with a 1734-IK counter card?

Common hot? switch the return?

we have these dumb NPN sensors that we always use, and we switched to the 1734-IK because of supply chain issues. So I am wondering if I can do away with the Pull Up resistor.

The manual is super super vague like all good Allen Bradley manuals are..
