Does anyone have an eds file for a GE DV300 or AV300. The communication cards are installed and when I use the eds file the vendor sent me I get an unrecognized device in RSNetworx. BTW I did import the supplied eds file.

I would appreciate any help.

Let's see how close the vendor came when they sent you the EDS files.

While online with RSNetworx, double-click on the unrecognized devices. When the software asks if you want to run the EDS wizard, decline.

Post the actual identity values (Vendor, Type, Device, and Revision), and post the EDS file as well.

You can open the EDS file and see how different the [Indentity] section in the file is from the actual values read out of the device.

Maybe you just have an older revision than the actual device; that comparison will help you figure out how far off target the EDS files you received are.

Ken, I'm working with Oboy on this

Vendor: SIEI Peterlongo [120]
Type: Generic Device [0]
Unknown Device Code 8 [8]
Revision 1.000

it does not show any tabs other than General.

ken,

there is no eds file to read on this, the vendor we think did not send the correct one. Now we are trying to get from GE and SIEI Peterlong and no one knows what we are talking about!

Does that vendor ID of 120 help us at all on locating one?

Welcome to the cutting edge. I had no idea GE was selling Italian AC drives under their label. The fact that the device itself uses "Generic Device" and identifies as "Version 1.000" is not terribly comforting.

Vendor ID = 120 does precisely identify "SIEI S.p.A" as the maker of the drive. Other than that, you gotta try to get info from them.

EDS files are just text; you can open them up with Windows Notepad or any other text editor. Post what you *did* get (did you get it from G.E. ?).

http://www.sieiamerica.com/ formerly knows an Amicon has been building the larger drives for GE for some time. Fuji makes some of the mini drives.

I found this out when we had a problem with an old PS 316 Moeller PLC with a GE/Amicon drive on a WTI rewind.

GE for me has always been hard to deal with. SIEI is by far the WORST company to have to deal with.

I give up for now. I think I will drink several frosty beverages and try to forget about this for now.

Thanks for your help Ken

i think the frosty beverages will help inspire you to great things and your problem will seem so much less of a problem

Ken,

Here is what GE gave us for the 6KCV300DVN Devicenet Interface Board for the AV/DV Drives. I had to shorten it to stay under 10,000 characters

Looks like we have a GE DV300 Drive, a EDS file for a Fuji OPC-G11S-DEV Inverter, the online eds profile says its a SIEI Peterlong device. Nice huh!

Who do you think is responsible for providing the EDS file, the Drive manufacturer (GE), or the online eds indentity of SIEI?

Thanks

Well, the EDS file you posted is obviously for a totally different product than the one you actually have.

Because your drive has a GE nameplate, I'd continue to work on GE to get you the correct EDS file. They'll have to get it from SIEI, but they will probably have more success doing so than you will directly.

You can create an "EDS Stub" to allow you to map this device to a DNet scanner and use the User Manual to get the basic functionality working with the default I/O data assemblies. If you want to use RSNetworx to set parameters, though, you're going to need the proper EDS file.

Thanks Ken, we are still waiting on a response from GE. I was just hoping someone had some experience configuring these drives with Devicenet.

Dale

Ken, have look at the EDS file we finally recieved from GE. No parameters setup and looks just 2 bytes.

Let me know what you think.
