RSLogix 5000 - issue getting "Status" with GSV from L33ER rev. 20

I'm trying to extract the fault status from a CompactLogix L33ER rev 20 and I cannot get the GSV intruction working on the Fault Routine. I generate an IO fault and I have the right Fault code using another GSV instruction, but status doesn't get updated - processor still showing Run condition (bits 5 and 6 ON). I found Tech note 41256 that says this method is not working. I'm curious if there is anybody able to get the Status (CONTROLLERDEVICE class name) from a compact/control logix processor rev. 20 or higher.
