Wizards,

So I got some downtime, and I am feeling motivated to teach myself something new.

I am interested in playing around with some STL, and see what I can learn from trial by fire.

The PLC I have to play around with is an older compact logic running v20.
When I tried to create a new routine, Ladder Logic is the only option I have.
Is STL something that an older PLC/Firmware version does not have access to?
I am sure I am either missing a software addon, or my test bed is just too old.

Any advice would be great.

Thank,

Gad

Unfortunately, if it isn't 5000 Professional Edition, you will need to get the ST license add-on.

Structured Test Editor is an add on that can be purchased separately and installed. Here is a link below to the RA knowledge base.

44905 - RSLogix 5000: Function Block, Structured Text and SFC Editor Options

I just looked up the price using Rockwell Catalog.

For the Multi-Language Pack.
9324-RLDMLPE the List Price is $2,350.00 (USD)

For the Structured Text
9324-RLDSTXE the List Price is $1,180.00 (USD)

Download some free Codesys, it works pretty much the same.

RA ST used to be terrible, but with v31 onward, it's tolerable now.
