Can anyone with G3 experience suggest an inexpensive way to put some I/O on a G3? Basically I just need to control about 10in/10out, and all the logic would be done in the HMI. I was thinking about just connecting a small brick PLC via serial or Ethernet and controlling the I/O directly from the G3 (PLC program would be blank). But is there an easier way? Perhaps some field I/O that Red Lion has drivers for?

I know that TURCK offers the BL20 products which work great for I/O to the G3. Connect over ModbusTCP. But this option might be a bit spendy for only 20 I/O points.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions.

Jezz, I checked out your link and then found the 4000 series which are RS485 serial and less expensive, and the Red Lion has drivers for them. I think I'll go this route as my I/O requirements are very low.

I forgot about them, we have only used the ethernet units as we allready have the network in place.
