Allen Bradley panelview 900, error 34.

A question for the hive mind, i have a Panelview 900, monochrome non touchscreen model.

On power up, i get error 34 which relates to an extended CRC check. I cant find any information about this error, however i was wondering if this is simply because the unit doesnt have any memory card fitted.

Does the PV900 series need a memory card or is the application stored on internal memory?

I have never had a memory card in any of the Panelview Standards I've had running.
99% of all mine have been replaced (upgraded) but I do have a few still running. Sounds like a bad screen to me. 34 I don't believe is a fault the screen is just not progressing past that point in the self test. Is the red light flashing or solid red

Solid Red = Static Ram Test Failed
Blinking (6 times a second)= Checksum Test Failed
Blinking (5 seconds on/5 seconds off) = Boot code incorrect for terminal type

Just checked the fault LED and its solid Red, not flashing.

Is the static ram related to the Clock IC by any chance?

If you mean the Real Time Clock Module I have never messed with one. Looking at Manual it looks like module has a battery in it if I'm reading it right. I will have to look at one I think I have old PV1000 parts if I haven't scrapped all. I think your unit is toast. What is full model number.

Yea the clock module has a very small lithium battery inside, if it fails then it cant keep time when powered down. Also the clock chip contains static RAM which again wont retain data when the battery fails.

I may have replacement clock modules kicking around, depending on the module number.

The PV900 i have is a 2711-k9c15.

I guess you could give battery replacement a try.
