Another thread had an interesting observation:

One square inside another is the standard symbol of double isolation

I had no idea. Thanks to the observation, now I know.

I hate symbols because they're cryptic and I don't understand them and there's no Rosetta Stone or Captain Marvel decoder ring.

That would be DOUBLE INSULATION not isolation, meaning there is no requirement to earth (ground) the unit.
