Hey guys,

I’m having a communication issue with a GT15 GOT over Ethernet. I will give you the system layout then describe the issue I’m having plus some troubleshooting I’ve tried.

The system:
PLC: Q-series PLC Q06H with a proven working Ethernet module.
GOT: (5) GT15’s on Ethernet.

Comms settings:
@PLC under module 1 for MELSECNET/Ethernet
Network type – Ethernet
Starting I/O – 0000
Network Number – 1
Group No. – 0
Station No. – 1
Mode – On line

Operational settings:
Binary code
Always wait for Open (communication possible at STOP time)
IP Address 192.168.0.152
Ethernet(V2.0)
Enable Write at RUN time (checked)
Use the KeepAlive

Open settings:
Protocol / Host station port no. / Target device IP / Transmission target device port No.
1. UDP / 5003 / 192.168.0.150 / 5001
2. UDP / 5004 / 192.168.0.158 / 5001
3. UDP / 5005 / 192.168.0.154 / 5001
4. UDP / 5006 / 192.168.0.166 / 5001
5. UDP / 5007 / 192.168.0.174 / 5001

Station No <-> IP information
Station No. <-> IP information system: Automatic response system
Net Mask pattern: 255.255.255.0
Input format: DEC
Conversion setting:
Network No. / Station No. / IP Address
1. 1 / 2 / 192.168.0.150
2. 1 / 3 / 192.168.0.158
3. 1 / 4 / 192.168.0.154
4. 1 / 5 / 192.168.0.166
5. 1 / 6 / 192.168.0.174

The issue:
I have 5 machines that are connected to a PLC (for data collections) via CC-link I/O and at each machine is a GOT on Ethernet for operator input/information. We rolled this out one machine at a time and didn’t run into any communication issues until we added the 5th machine. The problem I’m seeing is when we power up the 5th machine, the GOT will not connect to the PLC. On the back of the comms card the enet port has two lights (one is the connection light and the other is the communication light) that seem to be working fine, but nothing on the GOT screen works. The only solution that I have found works is to power down the GOT, unplug the enet cable, power up the GOT and when the application has finished loading up plug the enet cable back in. After a few seconds everything starts working.

Now this is just a band-aid solution as the plant powers down the equipment throughout the day for all breaks to save power consumption.

Things I have tried:
1) I swapped out communications card with one of the other machines and the problem persisted at the same machine.
2) I have checked and double check the communication setup at all the GOT’s and PLC and it matches all the other GOT’s, except for the IP addresses of course.
3) I have tried some things that Mitsubishi has suggested, but with no avail.

Does anyone know how many GOT’s can connect to one PLC?

Any help would be appreciated and if you need anymore information on the setup please let me know.

Thanks,

GOT1000 SERIES CONNECTION MANUAL
Chapter 8 section 8.1 System configuration
Max GOT's recommended 16 or less
Check that you have the correct OS system loaded in the GOT.
Check comm's using GOT diagnostics screen Chapter 8 section 8.2.7
it will display error code for CPU or GOT or Network
