I have RS Logix 5000 version 30 and am trying to open some older files that are version 12. How do I open them?

You need to install version 12.

To elaborate, With Rs/Studio 5000, You need to install support for each version you need to open programs with. This will correlate with the firmware version of the controller in the project. (There's some tricky business around 20.01,20.03,20.04, check the knowledge base or search the forum for THAT fun)
