I’m working on an application where I would like to mount the
encoder on the end of the gearbox instead of the motor
Can I hear from any of the yaskawa users who have done this and did
you do it using parameters F1-12 and F1-13 ?
Vector mode only

I would think you could but you would not be able to set it as a Flux vector drive
Open loop and V/F should work they don't need the encoder to work
but the real question is why would want to you would lose performance
you could divide the motor counts to get the gear box counts and keep the performance

FYI
Yaskawa tech support said it will work fine
Those F1 values set the ratio ie gearbox
