Hi all,

I'm newly joined in this website. Hope all are fine.
I'm very new to PLC and Drive system and interested to learn about this.
I want to know what is the main difference between Sinamics S120 & Simotion D - Siemens drive.

Thanks in advance.

Regards
Sabari

Simotion D is a drive-based motion controller, and Sinamics S120 is a servo drive system.

The modular style of Sinamics S120 is typically a Control Unit (CU), Power module (PM), and Motor Module(s) (MM). The CU connects to a higher up PLC or Motion Controller, PM is the AC Power Supply for the MM(s). The MM(s) is/are connected to the motor(s).

From the above example, if you replace the CU with a Simotion D controller, then you have a standalone, drive-based motion controller, on the Sinamics S120 platform.
