Hello All
For a bit of background we've have been using Eurotherm 2208E PID controllers and 2408I indicators for a very, very long time.
I truly like the how modular these devices are. Over the years I have been able to “field configure” these devices into just about every configuration we use.
I use the PID controllers with logic, relay, and analog outputs as well as setting additional outputs for alarming etc…
I’ve use the indicators with analog input, thermocouple inputs and to read a strain gauge. Programming outputs as alarms and retransmitting the process value.
This has given me the ability to purchase a “standard configuration” (that I set up) and then reconfigure as needed with modules purchased either with the device or separately.
Now we are currently working on updating our control systems, SCADA package etc…
I would like to update our PID Controllers as well as the indicators we are using. I would like to hopefully find devices that are just as “field configurable” as the devices we are currently use. Ethernet ip would be a nice bonus as well a good price.
I’m hoping that our community here will be able to suggest models for us to review.
I think so many years using these Eurotherm devices has spoiled me. I am hoping that we’ll be able to update our hardware without losing the flexibility we have become accustom to over so many years.
I appreciate any suggestion that can be thrown my way.

The up-and-comer in the single loop market is FDC, Future Design Controls, a former rep that got burned by losing a principal's line. They have this built for them in Asia, but it's got the pulse of what the future holds for controls.

It's 1/4 DIN, not 1/8th, and I didn't look through the manual for features like open circuit detection for heater elements because I assume that if they don't have it now, they will at sometime in the future.

Basic stuff, like firmware update-ability in the field, which many other products do not support, are available out-of-the-chute.

Check out their MCT-4

Watlow has their F4T, a four looper in 1/4 DIN box, but I believe it's function block programming.

We have switched over to the Solo process temperature controller. It comes in 1/32, 1/16, 1/8 and 1/4 DIN sizes.

All of the controllers have Modbus RTU built into them for communication. This communication can be used with the software to program.

You can also use this with logging software. (SCADA) AdvancedHMI to Solo

No, I have not used it, but I'm super impressed by the web video.

My only concerns would be

- how long does a 'video' screen hold up? 3 years? 5 years? 10 years? No way to know until they're in service.

- is there an option for a single loop display with larger PV, SP, Output value numbers in the display; that can be seen at a distance?

Dan

I believe that the Ethernet/IP bonus greatly limits the possible choices.

Instead using Modbus/TCP you could use the Eurotherm EPC3000 series or other devices from many other manufacturers that support Modbus/TCP.

Yokogawa UT35A would be another option
