1203-sss vs 1203-usb / dsi vs dpi

so the 1203-sss is a DPI device, the 1203-USB says it will do DPI/DSI.

is the 1203-sss capable of communicating with the devices using DSI like the powerflex 4 and 40s? I haven't seen a cable allowing a connection, but my assumption with most communication devices is that the company didn't create their own, they just repacked something else and it still runs on the same protocols like any other electronics communications.

No you need another model of the serial 1203, I cannot remember the number at the moment, maybe if you look in an early manual it will tell you the part number.

When the 1203-USB came along it meant you did not need 2 separate devices only the cables.

hmm.. The only model of 1203 i've ever seen are the 1203-sss and 1203-usb.

is the other device to connect to the powerflex 4 still a 1203 device? or was it something else entirely? never heard of one but i figured there had to be something.

I think I just found it, the 22-scm-232 looks like it's the serial to DSI connector. always finding something old that's new to me all the time.

Did a quick Google search and that is the one I was thinking of.
