honeywell transmitters
got a customer spec asking for the following. never used honeywell stuff or even heard of an instrument having a heater box. so is a heater box just to the the sensor from extreme temps and avoid condensation? having a hard time finding any information on the honeywell web site and havent heard back from a rep yet.
• Honeywell transmitters series 800 , HART 7 Configuration, with manifold and heated instrument boxes (as an option). |

You can start at Honeywell's site for the ST800
https://www.honeywellprocess.com/en-...s/default.aspx Honeywell will sell a manifold valve or an instrument valve, but it's not their standard product. To my knowledge Honeywell does not sell heated enclosures. If they do, they buy them like you would and mark them up. A Honeywell distributor is likely to be able to handle the combination of transmitter, valve and enclosure. re-reading my original post, it appears i wasnt clear.
the transmitter and block n bleed, is no big deal. the enclosure was the issue. thank you for the information danw. what is the purpose of the heated enclosures? im from socal, so cold protection is not something im familiar with. |

Keeps the device out of the weather. Even though the instruments are NEMA 4x, when there's snow and ice covering the unit it's a pain to to access and work on.
An enclosure offers some minor amount fire protection, some resistance to corrosion exposure, and limits UV exposure. The current breed of Honeywell PTs have an ID plate on the top of the unit that is painted, not engrave like in the past, and UV exposure renders it unreadable in about a year outdoors. An enclosure will keep the UV off the ID plate. We sell more sun shields than enclosures. http://www.oilandgastechnology.net/s...20Brochure.pdf It might pay to ask what the main purpose of the enclosure is. |

Heated enclosures are sometimes used to keep humidity out.
