TIA Portal Compact PID Control

Hi,
i used a compact pid in my program. i am using s7 1500 cpu. i selected the pid mode automatic, selected the output and input type from the pid configuration. now if i download the program in my cpu then will it start working after putting the set value? or i have to do other setting to make the pid work. i saw in a video that there is a commissioning tool. is it necessary to use that and do i need to use the tool everytime when i powered on my cpu?

i am new in TIA so need your kind help.

In my understanding the commissioning tool is to set up the parameters of the controller with your physical process.
