We have a fixed SLC500 model 1747-L40A series C with 1746-A2 series A two slot expantion. It worked a year ago, but now has a CPU fault. When trying to get online it gives an unknown decompile error after it uploads. Tried using RsLogix ver 7.00, and an older version on an old windows 95 laptop. I found and tried using the A.I.500 upload utility but that gives error 17 decompile error. There is obvious com link as it shows the program number when connected and it tries to upload. We could really use to get this program off of it since we don't have a copy. Even if not, how can I download something new to it when it won't even go online? I found documantation on how to reset SLC500's to factory default, but it says that series C can't be reset. Please help.

I have already looked at both those links. As stated the upload utility doesn't work either, and I didn't come up with anything in the other links. I did a considerable amount of searching online before I posted here. I must say that most of the answers I found were on this forum so it seemed like the best place to get help. I am wondering if the PLC is now just an expensive old brick.

Ok, assuming that the program has become corrupt and can not be recovered, can I use the upload utility to download a blank program to it so it can be accessed with RsLogix? If the program can't be recovered I at least need a way to force a download to it.
