profinet is acombination between ethernet and profibus
the main advantage in profibus over ethernet is that has priority
for ethernet u can not set priorities so an order to a drive could be delayed if someone is sending an email for example and thus u can not guarantee real time communication
with profinet u have all the advantages of both profibus and ethernet
