OT...We'll go with, I'm going through a midlife crisis. LOL

As I get older, it seems I have less and less tolerance for stupid.

o_O So I wonder why that is? I use to be a very patient person and could keep my mouth shut but as I get older I feel the need to speak out and call it like it is, I am not the smartest but my GOD some people just drive me crazy...

Sorry Bob to take a right turn on your thread, hope you find what makes you happy, I found mine (kind of) 🍻

For a while I worked for Siemens Industry and we "rented" office space from Siemens Building Technologies, their BMS group. I didn't work with them much, but in sharing the work space and being the VFD specialist for a while, I saw what they did all day and occasionally got called in. No thank you... BORING. The most exciting thing I ever got involved in with them was when some VFDs were supposedly malfunctioning and pulling a vacuum in the building, resulting in the doors being unable to open. People panicked and called the Fire Dept., who busted the door glass with axes. Turned out to be a BMS programming glitch.

I've been involved in some large scale energy monitoring BACNET systems. It was OK but honestly I didn't get the same satisfaction that you get when you commission a new machine.

I hadn't thought about having a midlife crisis. When should I start thinking about that?

+ 1 for Harryting. Most of my filters are non-existent, so I just keep quiet most of the time so I can remain employed.

To Bob O--+ 1 for Jraef. I've done a lot of air handler PLC programs for a customer since I've been at this employer, and I work very closely with the BACnet folks. We have one subcontracted with us. It is very boring, and the plant operators for the BMS system just play cards all day on the computer. Biggest event is the static pressure reset at noon. I'm actively looking for another job, need a little more money and now I know more, so...We'll see. I would NOT go into HVAC, BACnet or any other stuff like that. I like the PLC programming from scratch and starting, commissioning and de-bugging my own projects. And my mid life crisis was coming out of early retirement and going back to work.

OH ya, I feel you on the crisis. I think I'm on my 6th mid-life crisis at this point. Sometime I feel like sending out that email that will result in my firing and I don't even care anymore.

As I get older, it seems I have less and less tolerance for stupid.

Gotta say that I'm not a fan of going through my life thinking about how stupid other people are.

That being said, I don't pull punches either. I'm assertive, but I don't need to belittle anyone to get my point across. What really annoys me is when I'm informed how stupid I am and that I "need to get educated" about something.
