MCC and Kisoks for water/waste pumping applicaiton

Hello everyone,


In a conversation with a major drive distributor MCCs and Kiosks were frequently mentioned and I had no clue what he meant by a Kiosk until I asked him. I understand that a "Kiosk" is basically a control room.


My interest is in control. What kind of control is involved in water and waste applications? How are the motors required to run, what else need to be controlled and what feedback do I need.


An example of a simple application would be a good start and maybe some links or keyword to aid in my research.

That is an absurdly broad question. There are dozens of unit processes in each water and wastewater treatment facility, each a potential control project. I have done over 200 wastewater aeration control projects, for example, and no two were the same.

An example of a simple application is pumping water in a greenhouse to fill a pond that is used to water the plants.


One motor and pump, one drive with bypass, soft starter and braking resistors. There are at least two floats for top and bottom level and a pressure transducer.



Pump should not run dry.
Auto and Manual controls
Overload and shutdown protection
Maybe PID to insure efficient use of the motor and pump.
