Am I right that, regardless of the manufacturer's DIN Rail holes (slots), I can have any distance between the mounting holes on the back of the cabinet that is greater than Screw Diameter + shortest distance between din rail slots?

For example, anything greater than 25 - 18 + 6.2 = 13.2mm for this din rail?

You made my head hurt trying to understand your question. Yes you can use any spacing you want so long as the final assembly is strong enough to take the weight of the components that you are mounting on the DIN rail. Yes you can use any part of the slot you want. But the bit that gave me a headache was why you wouldn't just use multiples of 25mm for the centres?

Other manufacturers DIN rails use different centres so the spacing would change.

No disrespect intended, but you can make it as detailed as you want but the panel builder will probably do it differently.

To the best of my knowledge there is no standard (if there is no one follows it). I use a lot of DIN rail in the displays I build and I’ve used three or four different DIN rail manufactures and no two were the same (sometimes close but still different). You might get lucky but you’re better off standardizing on a manufacture or at least have different templates for different DIN rails.

Thought those slots are to eliminate weight. Doesn't everyone use self drilling & self tapping srews?

It depends on what kind of equipment I'm using. Some equipment doesn't really leave head room for the 1/4" or 5/16" pan head on self tappers. A lot of times I will lay the din rail on the backplate and make sure everything is plumb and flush, then use a marker to make my dots. Then I remove everything and tap out holes.

I'm a fan of using taps and machine screws for most things. It is more work but I find it a bit more neat and professional.

I drill the hole and thread forming screws. We don't use thread cutting screws. The screws are truss head ornpan head I can't remember. We buy 10k at a time.

I don't know if you only return to this thread when drunk, but none of this makes any sense at all.

I never though I would see the day someone posts about drilling holes for DIN Rail using a hole drilling specialist.

Gotta agree with you. How much micro managing is really needed for this task?
