Siemens CP PCIx card for Small Form Factor

Hello automation experts,

does Siemens manufacture CP cards for PC, such as CP5622 in SFF or low profile form i.e. to be used in a PC with SFF chasis?

What bus are you looking for? What size do you need it to be?


I've seen PC104 cards, PCI cards, and PCI express cards. I haven't seen anything specifically intended for small chassis, but there might be one that happens to work for you.

And what is the application ?

I have one PC in small form factor such as:

and would to use it as WinCC HMI station. Profibus connection and cable is already present.

CP5623 is a small formfactor for PCIexpress X1.

You have to check if it will fit or not.

There are a couple of other alternatives as well. For example the CP5711 for USB:

Or a 3rd party Ethernet/Profibus gateway, such as this:

There are several vendors that sell almost the same adapter.
I would prefer this one if you absolutely must connect to a Profibus network.

Is there a particular reason why it must be for Profibus ? Profibus is obsolete and should not be chosen for a new system.

Dear Jesper, thank you for the feedback. The profibus network is already there. It is rather old setup. I'm just replacing failed computer with anther one. The rest of the system is not changed. We already have one spare Business workstation, so I thought it would be a good idea to use it. I need profibus card that will fit SFF casing. Also DP/USB adapter cannwork but I'm not suremif this can be a long term solution.

All the 3 suggested adapters are long-term solutions.
