Hello,

I'm repairing/reprogramming a machine but i found out that the transformer has got a little bit too hot.

Now i want it to be replaced but i can't read the trademark any more. I want to use the same type.

This is the data which is still readable:

In: 230-400-440-480V 50/60Hz
Out: 230V 400 VA
TPM T7F42B/ 2 CEI 76
N° 700190 CE

Is there any way i can trace the brand of it?

I'm not sure it is worth the effort unless there is something special about the mounting or something. Control transformers are pretty much a commodity item, and if you get one with the same ratio but a higher VA rating you should be fine.

I would not worry about brand, just get with a local supplier and give (or have him look) at what you have and he should be able to obtain a replacement. It is, I think, a basic multi-tap Industrial transformer. I think the TPM part is a code that will provide info for them to supply an exact replacement, either way they can get one that will replace it.

How do you know it is too hot? These things can and do get pretty warm.

Hopefully the secondary is protected by an appropriately sized fuse(s), if it is and it isn't blowing it's probably OK.

another $.02

It is fused and it is blowing. When i replace the transfo with another one it works.

But i want to use the same one because otherwise i need to trill other holes, and i do not have much spare space around the transfo.

1. don't drill new holes, make adapter plate (no drilling required at the equipment).

2. that is very small transformer, probably mounted inside cabinet. if space is limited, mount it elsewhere, outside enclosure (on top of cabinet etc.) - just use encapsulated transformer.

3. simply repair existing transformer, i'm sure you will find nearby shops that will make custom or rewind existing motors.
then you have your "original".

Apparently downtime and/or loss of production etc.. is not a consideration here?

1) If the replacement transformer has the same electrical ratings, it will likely be very similar in physical size also.

2) The prospect of drilling & tapping 4 small holes in a panel to replace a transformer, shouldnt be someting to stop you from installing a different brand transformer forthwith. You could even use Tek screws..

I dont mean to be critical, but this should be a no-brainer...

It is a little machine who has broke down a while ago. Now they want to change it a bit and use it again.

They said once i've got time i should take care of it. I don't want to spend much time into it. So thats why i'm looking for the same tranformer.
