Has anyone out there had any experience with any Motor-Generator UPS Systems?

They are essentially an electric motor/ generator that is constantly running to generate 'clean' power. The generator is coupled to a large flywheel which, on a power failure will maintain power generation, engage the integrated gas motor (Ford 460CID) which in turn will start and maintain uninterrupted power supply.
Just seems to me to be more moving parts to fail, but I was wondering if anyone has experienced more or less reliability than the traditional battery back-up.
