Hello Everyone,

I hope we are all good today!

I have a project from 2015, and the customer is locked out of the HMI. They do not know what the passwords are.

I have a backup (mer and apa), but I prefer to back up what is there before I make any changes. This system was commissioned 7 years ago.

My Golden rule is always upload a backup before you download your changes.

Is there a way to grab the mer file off the HMI without shutting down the HMI and exiting to Terminal Settings or Windows Desktop?

I have not connected yet, but I assume VNC and FTP are disabled.

I was thinking a USB with an autoexec file to copy to USB, would this work?

can't you just use the ME transfer utility to upload the current project off the HMI?

maybe I don't remember if the PVP6 was compatible, but I thought it was.

Yeah if you can access it over Ethernet then use the transfer utility. It won't have any impact on the running application. It is silent to an operator. You could use a USB, but I'm pretty sure it will pop up on the screen.

You can turn on VNC using a autorun.bat file: Note this site is putting **** where it should be "Reset View Only" with no spaces

On the root of the USB make a file called ResetVi****ly.reg and put the following line in it:
rem REGEDIT4
rem [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\CeVncService]
rem "Reset View Only"=dword:0

In the autorun.bat file put:

regedce USB Storage\ResetVi****ly.reg
services register cevncservice
services load cevncservice
services start VNC0:
pause

Yes sorry, I forgot to mention that I am not on site, and have no VPN or network access.

The system is in the basement with minimal cell phone coverage, and it is a noisy room (air compressors etc).

I was hoping to provide instructions to the customer and do this via email.

Wow, I had no idea this was possible.

Thank you Jax.
