Panel View 1400E Comm Problems

I recently had to revisit some old PanelView E screens to make some program changes. The program on my laptop worked fine (PanelBuilder 1400e, v 5.15.00) but I could not get online with the terminal using RSLinx 2.51.00 and my serial port (Keyspan USB converter).

Being desperate, I tried my desktop with the same program but using RSLinx 4.2.00 and the built in com port and that worked perfectly.

Is there an issue with RSLinx? I can't haul my desktop out on jobs.

Help.
