Hi,
Just a quick question, I have a GE Fanuc DL330 PLC with a D3-330 CPU.
My problem is the Plc CPU seem to have failed the Run and Battery LEDs have gone off but the power LED is on.
I take it that the CPU has failed.
It is the first time I have worked on a Fanuc, is replacing the CPU the only solution.
What do you guys think?
I don’t have programming software yet I am currently trying to source a copy.

Thank,
Martin

It sounds like you've got a hybrid system. The rack and power supply say it's a GE Fanuc Series One, but the DL330 CPU module is from Automation Direct. Not to worry, it's all manufactured by Koyo and the pieces are compatible.

You mentioned the Power, Battery, and Run LEDs, what about the CPU LED? The LED pattern you cited, assuming that the CPU LED is off, simply indicates that the PLC is not running its program. You'll need to connect programming software or a hand-held programmer to troubleshoot further, but it's not certain that the CPU is dead.

Automation Direct has excellent tech support. Try contacting them.

I agree with Steve, sounds like the processor has "Fallen" out of "Run" mode, take lap top with programming software or a hand-held programmer and put it back in run mode.

Thanks Guys,
I should have the loan of a hand held programmer
tomorrow. Also ordered a spare CPU from automation direct,
this should get me back in action.

Thanks again

Martin

I feel kinda dumb, this hit yesterday...

Try cycling the "MODE" switch to "STOP" then back to "RUN" !!!!

If it is just a simple matter of "Falling" out of RUN mode (with no cpu faults) this can resolve your problem.

Try this first and let us know...

Has Koyo added a mode switch to the D3-330? According to the documentation I have on hand, only the D3-340 and D3-350 have the mode switch.

Good call Steve...

Didn't verify, just assumed it also had one.

Sorry for the bad info.

US$79 "Mode Switch"...

By the way, Automation Direct's got D3-HP handheld programmers for the 330/340 for US$79 (inventory reduction).

Might be a cheap way to 'add' a mode switch if you don't have software!

HERE'S the link...

Guys,
Got in a D3-HP unit switched the mode switch from
run to stop and run again, did that on Friday and
it ran fine since then.

Thanks each of you for all your help.

Martin :)
