Stepper Hybrid Versus AC Servo

The biggest difference, IMO, is the speed. Steppers are better at low speed than high. A Servo typically has a higher maximum speed while maintaining its full torque rating.

Also, the servo is smoother, even with microstepping.

And the Stepper has more holding torque when powered off (cogging).
