Stepper Hybrid Versus AC Servo

What are the pros and cons?

I know the stepper hybrids are waaaayyyyy cheaper, but surely there's a draw back.. Any tips?

Some people call it a stepper hybrid, some people call it a stepper servo...

Maybe I mean just a servo stepper... It's basically just a stepper with an encoder feedback. All integrated in one.

The biggest difference, IMO, is the speed. Steppers are better at low speed than high. A Servo typically has a higher maximum speed while maintaining its full torque rating.

Also, the servo is smoother, even with microstepping.

And the Stepper has more holding torque when powered off (cogging).
