Does anyone know if you can interface a Mitsubishi A3 PLC to a Allen-Bradley PanelView 1000? If you can do it, let me know

Rockwell has never been particularly interested in having PanelViews communicate with non-AB PLCs. I believe that the only non-AB protocols supported on PanelViews are Modbus and DeviceNet. If I'm mistaken, I'm sure someone will correct me.

So, if you can get a Modbus or DeviceNet interface for your Mitsubishi, then you can probably use the PanelView. Otherwise, there are several brands of HMI that can communicate with a broad range of PLCs, including Quick Panel, PanelMate, Maple Systems, and many many others.

I have no idea if it can be done with that particular plc or not BUT!

The Panelview can use all the AB default methods of communication..ie RS232C, DH485, DH+.

As was stated above they can be used with Modbus or Devicenet, they also will work with Controlnet, Ethernet and Profibus.

The manual for Standard Panelviews is http://www.ab.com/manuals/eoi/pdf/2711-um014c-en-p.pdf

User guide for Profibus DP is http://www.ab.com/manuals/eoi/pdf/2711-63.pdf

User guide for Modbus is http://www.ab.com/manuals/eoi/pdf/2711-69.pdf

Protocol Converter

You could put a protocol converter between the PLC and Panelview, such as an X-linx from mySST.com. Then the Panelview will "think" it's reading an Allen-Bradley PLC, while the Mitsubishi will "think" that requests are coming from whatever reads Mitsubishi PLCs.
