Exposed 24V Contacts

Are 24VDC contacts for PB's allowed to be exposed? I have an application where a control panel was put in with the contacts showing on the back side (inside of the machine itself). I know it's safe from electrocution, but obviously not safe from water (even though there's no threat).

Thanks in advance!

It all depends on the hazard rating, environment, and standards you are trying to meet. With most pushbuttons, if they are installed correctly they will seal against water and other contaminants. Therefore, if they are installed in a properly rated NEMA enclosure, the back side of the contacts cannot get wet. You can buy finger safe and other type of contacts as well when you specify pushbuttons.

Exposed 24DC is okay. OSHA requires protection at 50 volts and above. AC or DC.
