PLC Hardware Specification/Design

i think you should consider your programming software costs, do you own any right now? I would agree CCW is not great

For hardware i would consider Siemens S7-1200 or Mitsubushi FX range which are cheap and powerful

Maybe speak to various distributors about starter pack type deals also buying reduced licence for software (such as RSLogix lite)

Contact your local Parmley Graham branch:

CPU & Software (with basic HMI) £473

Extra module to take DI to x10 £59

Remote station £171

£703 in total. Plus whatever discount you can negotiate.

You have 1 project with both CPU in and swap data between them easily, plus you get half decent software for future use and a HMI for some basic IO, Alarms etc

Thanks for the info, we've got Eaton EASY software and STEP7.
Would the Step7 software we've got cover the S7-1200 range?
I've only used S7-300/400 series with it so far.

Just seen that I need Step 7 V14 or later, will check if we've got that as it will cut costs a bit more

Forget the Eaton. STEP 7 is now almost 10 years old. The above links include then new v15 TIA portal for the S7-1200.

If you have used the 300 / 400 before, nothing will come as a major learning curve.

If your company is trying to cut costs from £700 list price, well, I pity you.
