SIEMENS PLC S7 400 profibus communication wtih AB drive PF753 with 20-comm-p module

Dear Sir,

I have a healthy profibus communication between SIEMENS PLC S7 400 and Allen Bradley drive PF700 using 20-comm-p profibus dp module.

now i am just replacing old drive PF700 by PF753 keeping same 20-comm-p module and same GSD file and node address configuration and all.

but communication is not getting healthy and unable to establish communication on profibus.

as problem seems like old drive having 16bits parameters and new drive having 32bits parameters datalink size.

and there is now options from drive side or its not changeable the 32bit or 16bit selection.

now it requires how to deal or convert in PLC side such that it can handle 32bit link size data.

i am sending supporting documents.

please help.

Why are you using the same GSD file?

As i am using the same profibus communication card 20-comm-p
and GSD file is only available for the card not for Drive. so..

My bad. I thought the drive would bring the comms natively and not a separate card... which in hindsight is stupid as it is a Rockwell device.

I think you need to match the comms of the card to whatever the drive requires in terms of word size. That can be changed in the Simatic Manager for the PLC, but it must match the configuration of the card.
