Hello,

I am new to wonderware. I am very familiar to Logix 5000. however I have never used wonderware. I have just been thrown out to a platform that is controlled by all wonderware HMI. I have never used it am I am trying to get familiar with the project/application. I also have no youtube access out here since i have no phone service either.

Can any of you try and help me to at least obtain a backup of the Intouch project? I want to make a backup of it before anything happens. I know the man before me made some major changes without backing up anything. Sad to say but he made some mistakes and Im not about to do the same. Most of my experience is with inductive automation Ignition program. For years I have wanted to learn all about wonderware, i just hadnt got to it. once i get home, that will be my main goal.

I do have the whole wonderware programs and software. I have been reading the manual but at over 1000 pages it will take some time.

Can any of you advise me on the best places to go to get a beginners tutorial and possible some of the most crucial info?

Thanks for any assistance you can give. this is by far the best forum I have used when it comes any PLC issues/questions. this site really helped me understand MODBUS communication as well. yall are some great advice givers. Thanks for any info you can help me with.

thanks!

I seen that question on a google search. However my company has reddit blocked. they also have youtube blocked. that is why I am asking on here. Thanks for the info!

first important question:

Is it classic Intouch, or System Platform?

They can be hard to tell apart as system platform uses Intouch as the front end HMI software still.

Best way is to open up System Management Console (SMC) and see if you have any reference to Platform Managers. SMC lives in one of the Wonderware program folders on the start menu.

Your options from here depend a lot on that so report back and we'll see if we can help. Lots of Classic Intouch gurus here but not as many System Platform specialists.

Hi ford50killa,

Here are a few different resources that may be of use.

AVEVA Global Support Website - https://softwaresupport.aveva.com
AVEVA Training Website - http://industrialtraining.aveva.com/global/portal/catalog.cfm?calendarID=183
Wonderware HMI/SCADA YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/user/wonderwarehmi
Wonderware West (Your Local Distributor) - https://wonderwarewest.com

I would also recommend reaching out to your local distributor, Wonderware West, to see if they have any regional training coming up.

Regards,

What version of Intouch?
If prior to Intouch 2017, you can just make a copy of the application directory as a backup. If later version, right click on app in Intouch Application Manager and select "Export".
