Hi,
I am trying to communicate Panel view 300 with Micrologix1500 LRP.
PLC: Allen Bradley Micrologix1500 LRP
HMI: Panel view 300
CAT# 2711-K3A2L1 SER:B REV:A FRN:4.41

I can communicate Micrologix1500 with my laptop using 1761-CBL-PMO2 cable with serial to USB converter cable and using DF1 protocol. (USB Port4)
I can also communicate PanelView 300 with my laptop using 1747-UIC interface converter and using
DH485 UIC devices protocol. (USB port5).

Problem:
I need to know that how I can communicate Panel view 300 to PLC and what cable and communication protocol can be used.
I have 1761-NET-AIC Advanced interface converter and I am not sure that how I can be used. I can see that Micrologix1500 LRP has one more communication port(CH#1) but not to sure how to use it.
Please advise:

Thank you for posting the complete part number: 2711-K3A2L1

These are the old PanelView 300 terminals with a small screen and a numeric keypad, not the more-popular PanelView 300 Micro.

The "2" in the part number means that the terminal is equipped with true Data Highway 485 networking that connects to RS-485 style electrical networks. It should have both an RJ-45 jack that allows your 1747-UIC to connect, and a modular "AMP" connector jack that allows it to connect to a classic 1747-AIC isolator.

The 1761-NET-AIC can connect this terminal to your MicroLogix 1500 controller. It provides an electrical conversion from DH485 signals (the 6-pin screw connector) to RS-232 electrical signals.

In my opinion the easiest way to do this is:

1. Configure Channel 1 (DB9) on the MicroLogix 1500 for DH485 protocol in RSLogix 500 software.
2. Connect Channel 1 on the MicroLogix 1500 to the DB9 port on the Net-AIC using a null-modem serial cable like the 1747-CP3.
3. Connect the Net-AIC to the PanelView with a 1761-CBL-AS03 or -AS09 cable or equivalent. This connects the six-pin Phoenix style connector to the RJ45 jack on the PanelView 300.

This connection will allow you to leave the MicroLogix 1500's Channel 0 serial port connected to your computer via the USB interface and 1761-CBL-PM02, and leave it in the default DF1 Full Duplex mode.

It will also allow you to connect both your PanelView 300 and your computer to the PLC controller simultaneously in order to troubleshoot.

You could also connect your computer to the other port of the 1761-NET-AIC using the 1747-UIC's RS232 connection. That would also allow you to download directly to the PanelView.

Thanks for the reply! As I understand from your reply, I have created a schematic based on what you advised me with cable names as well. Please see the attached link. Does it look correct to you? Also, I do not currently have the 1761-cbl-as03 cable. Is there any other alternatives to the cable or would I have to order the cable? Thanks for your help once again.
