Also this is an APA file for FTView SE Local Station; it isn't a .MER file. Oh, wait, it does say that.

Alright, I posted a 1.4.1, sorry for that, I was doing it in a hurry, and I don't have files to test against. Plus I hadn't looked at the code in a while, now that I look at it, I probably would have done things a little different!

The invalid file thing at the end is related to my attempt to figure out the 32bit/64bit thing, which isn't reliable.

My log files say dumb things, I'm kind of embarrassed. Some things seem funny until you see them on the internet. "Like, totally..." Ugh.

If this doesn't work, it would be nice to get a MER and APA, or I will install the latest in a VM when I get time.

It works! It can't determine that is was made on Windows 7 x86 though. I have to upload some samples.

I thought it was hilarious.

What is a way that you can determine if a file was done in 32 bit or 64 bit?

I run into these a lot with no history or paper trail.

I just poked around through the files from an unzipped APA/MER and looked for differences. The thing I stumbled on that I thought would be the ticket was a file called PRODUCT_VERSION_INFORMATION. It seemed that a value saved in that file gave a clue. I need to revisit it though to see if I can make it more reliable, it's been a while since I've dug into it.

Just letting you know it's still being used and appreciated. I received an MER file to make some changes and I wanted to make sure I sent a compatible file back. This helped me get it done.

First: A big thank you for this nice software! It has been really helpful.

I've noticed you put a new version (1.4.3) in your download link. Could you tell us what's new?

Thanks again!

I just started using this tool, but every file that I .mer or .apa file I use outputs the invalid file error. Is this normal? I included a sample log below.

Are you dragging/dropping it from a network drive, or is it on the local file system? Try doing it from your desktop.

edit: Nevermind, that isn't the issue. It looks like the part trying to figure out whether it was created with FTVS 32 bit or 64 bit wasn't successful. I found what I thought was a good way to detect that, however as more people used it, I found it wasn't that reliable. I don't really have the means of testing all the possible configurations of OS/Software architectures and version. Plus when application are converted from 32 bit to 64 bit, they were a little different.

That's fine, I'm super happy with the file version. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. As long as the file version isn't impacted I'm good.

Would it be possible to get the source code? I want to add to the log the name of the file I dropped in.
