Logix 5000 - Enet comms synchronous?

Most of us are familiar with the concept that for Logix 5000 based processors, the I/O updates asynchronously with the logic scan. But what about ethernet comms? If set up in the I/O tree, using a MSG read instruction or when being written to from a panelview or another MSG based processor?

Also asynchronous or does it depend on the type of comms?

Thanks in advance!
