Siemens LOGO! 8 Ethernet Comms

Regarding a Siemens LOGO! 12/24RCE 6ED1052-1MD00-0BA8 controller...

- What comms protocols does the Ethernet port support?

- Is the port protocol select-able (SIMATIC S7 protocol or Modbus TCP/IP, etc.)?


- Internet search results and the manual are confusing.

You get them both.

I have used several of these and you can use both the S7 protocol and the Modbus TCP/IP protocol. You can even use both at the same time. (We have only used the S7 protocol to connect with a Siemens HMI)

All the standard I/O External and Internal are premapped both to S7 and Modbus registers. The variables you program can be mapped to a fixed range or S7 tags which also defines what Modbus registers they are mapped to.

I would guess that you could connect to multiple Modbus or S7 devices. It can be connected to like 8 other devices.
