Hi all,

I was reading something in forum about communiction between CP and PC. I have a desktop PC and I need to download my configuration in CP1430. If I use the cable 6ES5 734-2BD20, and do DB25 to DB15 (like in attachment), and after all this use the cable 6ES5 734-1BD20 (or db15/usb CPU S5 communication) in my PC, it's possible to work?

I want to know because I need to buy these cables.

Please help me, I very confused with this CP1430.

The 734-2BD20 does not have the RS232/TTY converter in it, therefore you cannot use it for a normal PC. This cable was for a PG which has a TTY port built-in.

You must use the 734-1BD20, with a DB9F/DB25M converter to connect to a standard DB9M port on a PC. This cable can connect from your computer directly to the PG Port on the CP1430TF. Sometimes, you may need the "Cable for CP to program with a 6ES5734-1BD20.pdf" cable in addition to the 6ES5 734-2BD20 cable. It depends on the age of the CP1430TF (whether pin 14 has 5V or not).

Ok, so using -1BD20 (DB15/DB9) I can conect direct with CP, but if the CP has not 5V I need to use a DB15/DB25 like your PDF between -1BD20, it is? And how I know if my CP (my CP is 6GK1143-0TA01) has the 5V? I'm confuse because the -1BD20 is DB15/DB9, and the PDF is DB15/DB25. I'm understand that I need a normal cable DB15/DB25, than DB25/DB15 and finally -1BD20, is this?

I have a DB15/USB TTY to communicate with CPU, so I guess that this cable replaces -1BD20.

Just one more question (sorry if I bored you), can I use 6ES5-734-2BF00 cable to communicate CP with normal PC?

We have a couple of old S5's still in use on my site. I use a 6ES5 734-1BD20 from the S5 to the TTY converter, then a DB15 to DB9 cable between the TTY converter to the serial port on my old laptop that still has a DB9 serial port.

If you connect your 734-1BD20 cable to the CP, and you succeed in getting online, you don't need to worry about anything else. Try this first. If it doesn't work, you need power from the CPU PG Port. I made a different cable that is a 'Y' cable.

I made one like this in the past, see the attached picture. I would try first without the jumpers on 6&11 and 9&13 on the CP connector, because it seems that these jumpers exist already on the 734-1BD20 cable. It might be required to connect pin 12 between the 734-1BD20 and CP. I usually connect the shield of the connectors to each other.
