Handheld tach from AutomationDirect

Long shot, but has anyone bought and/or used any of the tachs from AD?

I am planning on buying the PT-110, unless someone has had bad experience with this.

I will be using this mainly to check speed on fans for setting VFD max outputs (mechanical engineers cannot decide what the sheaves were.).

I've used the Shimpo DT series tachometers for many years. They are very dependable and rugged and have never had any issues with them except for once when the batteries corroded. I find that the attachments provided with the Shimpo cover most of the situations where you'll need to measure speed, RPM or whatever. Shimpo would be my first choice when buying a tachometer, but that's really all I've ever used.

The unit I have now was bought from Automation Direct.

We have several SHIMPO tachometers.
No issues.

Shimpo DT-105A is the defacto standard of the printing industry. They come calibrated in a nice case and are simply the most accurate and durable available. I had no idea Automation Direct sold Shimpo, but they have surprisingly good tools and accessories for a bargain PLC retailer.

You can get one with Prime shipping for $216 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Have used Shimpo combination tach with no problems. Very reliable.
BUT the one you have selected is a Non-Contact version only [requires sticking piece of reflective tape for measurement].

Though more expensive I would recommend a combo tach with both Contact and Non-Contact features.

I bought this one for about $12.00 on Amazon about two years ago. It had good reviews and it has worked well for me.
