Logix5000 Verifying Module Fault

I received a program update from one of our vendors to load into a compact logix. When I went to load, I get numerous (4) errors stating Error: Tag '#tagname#' : Invalid object Instance. If I click on the error, it causes Studio5000 to crash. These tags are used in the program. I checked the program Upload I took first, and if I verify the controller, the same errors show up. I can go online with that program as is, but I cannot download either the existing program, or the new program, to the controller.

Any ideas as to a fix?

Try the age old trick of exporting the project to the L5K format and then import it?...

1088074 - Studio 5000: Error Invalid object instance
Access Level: TechConnect

This type of error is usually corruption in the project file and doing the above reassembles the project structure.

Regards,
George

It looks as though it is related to a couple of consumed and produced tags in the program. There is no data in the connections in those tags, even from the upload I completed. Is there a trick to maintaining those connections?

Have you tried the above simple solution which "may" solve your issue but should not put you out too much if it does not?

You have asked a question, received a "quite possibly" good solution, and then, it "seems", are ignoring that solution, and are proceeding to ask further questions. That is not how help Forums tend to work, my friend.

We are here to help, but if you ignore quite relevant assistance then it will not serve your time well, or ours. But the choice is, of course, always yours.

George

Hey Geo, I apologize: I was only posting an observation I had made when looking a bit closer at the project after I had got home the other day before I saw your response and before I got to try it. By no means was I meaning to ignore or invalidate your suggestion, and I should have specified the timing of events better in my response.

I did try saving the project as LK5 and importing it as you suggested. After doing so, when I verified the project, it states that (2) modules could not be found, referencing the same names of the tags where previously marked as invalid.

It also errors for the same tags not being verified in the logic.
