I had a customer ask me to investigate what state a digital output would be in a PLC5 if the the processor faulted or was put in program mode.

It has been a while since I have worked with a PLC5, so I cannot remember. I think it holds last state, however not 100% sure. Maybe someone can tell me exactly the state of these outputs may be. Thanks.

Normally they would stay in their last state
If I remember correctly there is an option to set to ON or OFF if the communication is lost or on a fault check the manual
