Hi

I'm trying to use a ControlLogix PLC to read from a Micrologix 1100 PLC via messaging.

I've setup this before at in my office and worked fine.

When I tried the same setup on another pair of ControlLogix and Micrologix it doesn't work.

All in all I'm trying to let 4 ControlLogix PLC's to read from the Micrologix

EtherNet Adresses For ControlLogix: 100.100.100.16, 100.100.100.17, 100.100.100.18, 100.100.100.19. All Subnet 255.255.255.0

EtherNet Adresses For Micrologix: 100.100.100.99 Subnet 255.255.255.0

it gives me and error path.

I know the 1, 2, 3, 100.100.100.100 format where
1 - is base
2 - slot
3 - remote or local
100.100.100.100 of remote device

ControlLogix in SLC Typed Read

my current settings are 1, 6, 2,100.100.100.99 and it doesnt work. is there any other small setting I'm missing?

Thank you in advance

Could you post the comms path as entered within the MSG Read instruction configuration applet and name the slot number of the 1756 EtherNet/IP bridge handlung the ML subnet?

It should be "1(backplane), x(ENB(2)T slot#), 100.100.100.99" and nothing else.

If the 1756 bridge is located within Slot 6 then the comms path will be "1, 6, 100.100.100.99".

what is the error you are getting and what is the display for the e/net connections

He still needs the "Port Number" as part of the second CIP Path pair.

A simple ControlLogix to MicroLogix 1100 message like this will have the path:

"1, S, 2, 100.100.100.99"

Where "S" is the Slot number of the 1756 EtherNet/IP module. As noted previously, the "1" is the Backplane port of the controller, and the "2" is the network port of the EtherNet/IP module.

You might also try to add a "hop to the CPU" at the end of the Path, adding ",1,0". But I don't think it is necessary.

MicroLogix 1100 controllers are limited to 16 incoming and 16 outgoing TCP connections. While you say you're only using 4, it's possible other devices have used up connections (like PanelViews or RSLinx stations). You can check the TCP connection volume using the Channel 1 diagnostics inside RSLogix 500, or using the embedded webpages (see the RA Knowledgebase or user manual for how to access those).

The Colour Scheme in your Pictures makes it hard to make out all the details. However, I suspect your Error is being caused by your Destination Tag in your CompactLogix PLC being a DINT. It needs to be an INT to match the MicroLogix 1100 Data Format.
