AB 6200 programming software compatability

We have old Allen Bradley 6200 programming software running under Microsoft Windows 98 PC and it's working fine. But recently I tried to update that old computer with new computer running Microsoft Windows 2000. I installed Allen Bradley 6200 programming software to my new computer, but once my computer got online (through RS 232c communication), my computer screen frose almost immedialy (this happened 95%).
Could you please tell me Allen Bradley 6200 programming software (DOS version) is not compatable with Microsoft Windows 2000?

The newest releases of 6200-PLC5 worked under Windows NT-based operating systems by using RSLinx software, instead of the DOS-mode hardware drivers.

Windows NT, 2000, and XP all put an "abstraction layer" between the hardware and the software, so DOS-type hardware access doesn't work anymore (though it did in Windows 95, 98, 98SE, and ME). It can "freeze" the PC when it attempts to access the RS-232 port.

If you have version 5.32 of that software, you can choose the RSLinx communication path, though it is comparatively slow. Or, you can use RSLogix 5, which works in Windows NT, 2000, and XP.
