Those terms are so confusing. Some manufacturers’ (AB) documentation is inconsistent and causes further confusion.
Think of it this way: do you want to switch the + wire or the - wire.

I think of as supplying not switch, but you need to do what works for you... AD always has good simplistic drawings for their PLC's
