Good Afternoon ,

We have some new machinery that we received that has ControlLogix PLC's in . I took notice that they have some sub routines that are written in Function Block and some that look to be in C++ possibly . I imagine you need
RS Logix 5000 Full Edition or Professional to access , correct ?

All our laptops have RS Logix 5000 Standard , along with our full support contract. How do you guys purchase and download Rockwell software upgrades ?

I was absolutely surprised when I was working with a technician from the manufacture this week , to see modules in their programs that were written in different languages . The more I see in this career , the more I realize how much I don't know .

Thanks always , for your support and advice.

Here is a breakdown of the variants: clicky clicky

The controller doesn't have C++, so what you saw was probably Structured Text.

The various languages have their place, but ladder is typical, less complex math requirements which would better suite Structured Text. FB looks more like a circuit diagram, I generally don't use FB.

I believe you can add the "RSLogix 5000 MLP option" license. MLP stands for multiple language pack. We have a Standard license and a Mini License with MLP option to allow us to use all the languages. Look for part number:
9324-RLDMLPE

You will pay $2250 according to ProposalWorks. Software licenses do not get discounts that I am aware of.

I go through our distributor who is good at processing requests quickly and they have a Rockwell Automation SPecialist who can help me wade through the options for the most cost effective answers when I am confused by the choices. (and this happens quite a bit with Rockwell Software.) I normally receive a link to a download within an hour or so after I send him an email approving the purchase.

I am not 100% sure that same part number will apply to RSLogix 5000 (Studio 5000) Standard. I am pretty sure, but not 100% since we bought it for use with the Mini edition. So make a call or email to your supplier to make sure.

If it just Function Block you are looking for :

RS Logix 5000 Function Block Diagram Editor
code AB9324RLDFBDENE

I had to buy that as an add-on 3 years ago, and the list price then was £764.10
