Series one GE Fanuc plc

Hi everybody
I'm in the mud for a really stupid situation.
I got every HW/SW device it is nedeed to program GE Fanuc series One Plcs (cpu 104)except a cord from the adaptor to the Cpu .
On the manual I have there are some wiring diagram and one sheet show
the configuration I have but in my opinion something doesn't sound good.
The wiring diagram for the cord shows two connectors for a round multiwires cable , but in the reality that one of the Plc Cpu side is a 25 wires flat cable female connector.
The diagram also shows some points to be connected with resistors
not telling the values.
Now it's not so easy here in Italy to have such a cord , in a reasonable time , because this PLC is considered little bit obsolete:so what I need is somebody to help me to work this problem out sending me the wiring specification to build it.
Reasuming: I have a Workmaster programmable control
the cord from the comm1 port to the adaptor
the adaptor itself
not the cord for the CPU
Can I run the Logicmaster 1 with a PC equipped with Windows ME ?
If yes, how could it be?
Thanks for any kind of helps
Sorry for my bad English

The Series One PLC is currently being sold as the DL305 by Automation Direct, but I don't what kind of representation they have in Italy.

The flat ribbon cable you mentioned is probably the one that connects the hand-held programmer (IC610PRG105) to the CPU module.

For communications with Logicmaster One software, you need a data communications unit (IC610CCM105). It plugs into the CPU and has an RS422 serial port. To connect to the computer, you'll need an RS422 to RS232 converter, or an RS422 port on your computer.

I sinecerely doubt if you'll be able to run Logicamster One under Windows ME. Your best bet will be to find an old 386 computer running DOS.

If Automation Direct has representation in Italy, you should contact them. They have current hardware and software that can program the Series One. For example, the current version of the IC610CCM105 has an RS232 port, so you don't need a converter.

If Automation Direct is not in Italy, I have manuals here for bothe the Series One and Logicmaster One. If you tell me what page you're referring to, I can try to explain. Don't worry about your English. It's a lot better than my Italian, although I do have Italian relatives from my wife's side of the family.

I think you could probably upgrade your cpu as Steve has pointed out, and have a better time. You will have to purchase the software from AD
but it is cheap and they have a great product.
They do have a cpu that will plug in, right Steve?

I don't hae my old catalogs so I can't chedk the model numbers, but the Series One also had a "brick" unit. This is not supported by AutomationDirect. You may want to contact your local GE representative - they should still have some support available.

Tom,

I used to be the Automation Specialist for a GE Fanuc distributor. When PLC Direct was formed, GE's contract with Koyo had expired, and the inventory of Series One parts was pretty well depleted, so they jacked up the prices on what was left. After that we referred inquiries about the Series One to AD. If our customers insisted on buying replacement parts from us, we bought them from AD.

Tanksgiving

Hi it's Sandro
I would like to tank all the Plc people , it was relly great to get lots of answer so fast.
May be I gotta be more precise : I'm sorry I didn't think to bring the manuals at home so I shouldn't be able to refer to part number and so on.
I know the flat ribbon cable is used with the handheld programmer
'cause I got one which I'm using right now to re-program a 104 CPU.
I know I could be able, with some kind of slowliness ,to work out the problem of re-programming the cycle of a machine (no back up disposable)
but I couldn't be able to back up the program at the end of my job because I have not what it is needed to record the program using the handheld programmer.
As I had already written I have also the Workmaster , which looks like a big brown PC , and the cable to connect it to a black box that I've called adaptor (if I'm not wrong is written like that somewhere)and if I remember well is branched to a port named J2;on this box there is another port named J1 for the cable directed to the Plc port,
and this is the cable I miss.
In deed I've found one that at a first sigth looked suitable , but when I've examined it deeply I saw that the connector (plc Side ) was a 20 way(may be is for a different PLC).
I hope I have been able to be more precise explaining the system I have.
Any way I'll bring the manuals tomorrow and I should been able to send the image of the connection system.
You gotta know I'm working in a factory from two months and its
a pretty rotten one so that nobody knows exactly the old machines history and some times when one of them looses programs isn't sure you can find the back-upped program and this is what happened.
I went in your country (Detroit) to install and try-out numerical controlled machines tools for a previous factory. It was 1998 and had been a great experience.
Thanks a lot and have a good one to everybody

Sandro,
The adaptor you mentioned may be the IC630CCM390. This is a RS232-to-RS422 converter. The J2 (RS232) port connects to your computer. The J1 (RS422) port does not connect directly to the PLC , but instead to the Data Communications Unit (IC610CCM105). It appears that you need both a cable and the DCU.

The connection you're using is depicted at the top of page A-14 of the manual GFK-0075, and the details of the cable are on the next page.

The most important thing that you need to be searching for is the Data Communications Unit, IC610CCM105. Without it, you can't communicate between your computer and the PLC.

again about series 0ne

tank you so much Steve for you to be so patient
I think I begin to understand a little better.
Yeah maybe I know now what do you mean.
If it is as you said it sounds I'm going to have supplementary troubles.
I had to get along two days in order to find what I told you I have.
The pc was stored into a basement , the handheld into the tool box of one of the maintenance guys, the manuals into a closet and so forth.
Any way tomorrow I will check all the stuff with the informations you sent to me.
Have good evening , wherever you live in USA there are at least 6 hour difference between your country and mine.
Here is 00.22 and I need my bed.
You had been really kind
Bye bye
Sandro
