MD720-3 modem

Hello guys..
I want your help for the MD720-3. The old one we had, was "burnt", so I bought a new one, but it is used, as i couldn't find anywhere a new and no used.
Anyway... I inserted two different SIM cards but the when I call it from another cell phone it said was off. The Q led of MD720-3 is always off and the only led that works are the S and C.
How can i be sure its ok? What i have to do to program it? Some specific setting?

Page 65 tells you how to get a read out of all the settings. The SIM must either be a perfect match to the previous one, or you need to set the APN, APN User Name, and APN Password to match the new SIM.


Pages 24 and 59 tell you what the LEDs mean depending on how the modem is used.

I read the manual and as I see have to use some hyperterminal program. I found windows hyperterminal from an another PC (My pc has window 7) but I can't connect with the modem. I found one more free hyperterminal program and still can't connect with it.

I put all the settings as the manual says, but nothing happened! What am I doing wrong? What program do you suggest to use?

Have you tried the free utility TeraTerm? It is easy to change the settings for the serial interface and it is free of charge. It works on Windows 10.

I was able to connect to the MD720 with the help of the program you mentioned.

But I still have a problem.

I entered the number of the SMS service center of my telephony provider, turn off the PIN, I changed the connection speed from 19200 to 9600, (so It can communicate with the CP340)

Q normally flashes, I call from a cell phone and the number rings normally ... but it does not send sms.

What else might I miss?

Do I have to put the mobile numbers and the number of service center somewhere in the CPU? must the modem somehow "pull" the CPU program?

Is there is a way to drag in text file the whole configuration of the old modem?

I finally managed to connect to the MD720-3 with what program Alfredo mentioned.

I was also able to send a message via PC, so the modem works normally.

One problem that remains is that I connect it to the CP340, (CPU 315 is used), but no message was send!

Based on the example of Siemens, the SIM card number and the network center number of the provider are in DB11. There is no such DB file in our system. How can i find which DB these parameters are on?

What other moves should I make? Do I need to RUN-STOP the CPU to synchronize the modem with the CPU?

Hello and good morning... I'm here again for the same problem.... With the MD720-3. Until now I had no problems and it worked fine. A few weeks ago no sms were sent. I found out that the Echo was enabled. I disabled it and for 1 month ot was fine... Yesterday I noticed that again no message was able to send. I don't know yet why is this happens and why the Echo is enable. The first time i thought it was random .. but second time??

Any idea what its going on?

Merhabalar S7-1200 ile birlikte kullanılan MD720-3 gsm modem vardır. Modemi arızadan kaynaklı fabrika ayarlarına döndürdüm. GSM Modeme PLC den configurasyon almıyor. Sim kartını taktığımda arama yapıyor.Ne kadar uğraştıysam PLC den configurasyon aldıramadım. Bu konu hususunda bir fikriniz var mı?Tera term ile rs232 kablo üzerinden PLC den configurasyonu alıp almadığını kontrol ediyorum ama almamış.

Hi, there is the MD720-3 gsm modem used with the S7-1200. I reset the modem to factory settings. GSM Modeme does not receive configuration from PLC. When I insert the sim card, it makes a call. No matter how hard I tried, I could not get the configuration from the PLC. Do you have any idea about this subject?
