Hey guys,

This is more of a networking question, but maybe you'll be able to help me. I'm trying to get an HMI to connect to two different PLCs with two different IP schemes at the same time. The first one is on 10.35.158.xxx scheme and the other 100.100.100.xxx scheme. Is it possible to communicate with both of these devices without needing to change your IP address?

Yes, with a route established between subnets.

A PC/Laptop can have two or more IPs assigned to the same NIC, although this can sometimes have surprising consequences if used in practice and isn't probably a best practice except for ad hoc commissioning.

For embeddeded devices like an HMI or PLC, you need to get a router. Something like a NAT device should do nicely.

LMAO, I learned something today, about a region I used to live in, because the site blocked part of the name of the city that taylorb831 lives in. How did I not know this!? I'm basically a child.

When I had a young child, I put some "net nanny" software on my PC. It stopped me getting the football results because of Scunthorpe and Arsenal.

I'm not sure if the banned word list has been updated or enhanced, but we were never allowed to use the word "specialist" on this site because it contains the name of a ***ual performance-enhancing drug that doctors all over the world are prescribing to patients in need.

Go figure !!

This post will prove my point, one way or the other ...

EDIT2 : the starred out letters are what you are assigned at birth, male or female are the two types of ***
