motor oscillating with an encoder

hello everyone i am willing to program a tempered glass machine,
the principal of it is the glass enter the oven and oscillate from the start to the end of it and rerun this process
the problem is how can i know how much the distance to taking it to the end and to the start.

i am using delta plc and delta vfd
