Dear experts,

I have encountered an SMC Flex (361A,480V) wired for 3-wire where that if you press 'Start' Then immediatly press 'stop' it will continue to ramp to full speed before ramping to stop. The display says 'stopping' while it is ramping up. ???

terminal 17 is start button, stop removes power from 17,18. 16 is wired always power (if power is removed from 16, it will ramp to full speed then stop)

I'm not that familiar with these AB drives and I can't find a parameter to address this behavior.

Thanks!

What are the exact details of how the "press" is transmitted to the SMC? What kind of display (HMI?)? Is there a PLC between the display and the SMC?

I'm not familiar with the SMC Flex line, but sounds like it's wired from pushbuttons. I'd assume the 'display' is on the drive unit itself.

Just a Start/Stop Buttons. that's all. no plc, hmi, no network of any kind, not even a relay.

thanks

from what i see in regards to the allen bradley smc flex soft start series, the system is designed to ramp up, run, then decel to stop. i would call your local distributor and ask the specialist about your application. if i am wrong, someone please correct me. PLEASE give us the part number so we can assist you better.

Yes, the normal operation of the soft starter would be to ramp up, run, then decel to stop when the stop button is pressed. this operation works properly.
The issue is when an event occurs where ramping to full speed could be dangerous. so the 'stop' button is pressed to decel to stop before full speed is reached. this does not work. the starter continues ramping to full speed then decel to stop.
The strangest part is that the display on the soft starter indicates 'Stopping' when the stop button is pressed, even though the motor is still ramping up to full speed.

Part# 150-F361NBD

Thank you
